How the count works

• Matching buyers are people who fit every filter you set. The same filters in the app find the same people.
• Matching companies counts their employers once each, leaving out entries that are not companies, such as “Freelance” or “Self-employed”.
• Software combines the way you choose: people who reviewed any of the products, all of them, or none of them. The per-product counts ignore your other filters, so you can see how big each product is on its own.
• Company size uses the employee count recorded for each person’s company. People without one are left out once you pick a size.

Frequently asked questions

Where do these counts come from?

From the Backchannels database of 225,000 software decision-makers. Each person is linked to the software products they reviewed, their function, their company and their country, and the calculator counts the people who match every filter you set.

What does "reviewed" mean here?

A person is counted for a product when their profile lists a review of it. That is evidence they evaluated or used the product, not a record of which software their company bought, so read the counts as "companies whose people reviewed X".

Why do some results say "fewer than 10"?

Very narrow filters can come down to a handful of people. Below 10 the calculator does not show the exact number, so a count can never point at one person. The app shows the full list once you sign up.
